Unreal Tournament and the Happening Movement

During the 1960s an art movement called ‘The Happening Movement’ was founded. It set up spaces and essentially just let the art happen without any control conditions. The viewers and the audience were transformed into the art itself and the events were neither defined nor structured.

For this piece of work I have attempted to recreate the same environment within the Unreal Tournament 2003 game engine. I tried to create a space in which there is a lack of control or structure over the movements of the characters. This is the complete opposite of what we usually imagine to be the function of a computer. A computer is built on the supposition that rules and regulations create order.
